Moab Rock Climbing
The small town of Moab, Utah is your basecamp for adventure. With world-class mountain biking, rafting on the Colorado River, 2 National Parks, and a jaw-dropping red rock landscape, this town is literally surrounded by nature's beauty. There's also no shortage of rocks to climb, including toproping just outside of town at the Wall Street buttress, multipitch towers in Castle Valley, and wild spires in the Fischer Towers. Castle Valley is the epicenter for desert tower summits, with more classic tower climbs than any other area. The climbing here is mostly solid Wingate sandstone and demands good crack climbing technique. The Fisher Towers are home to one of the world's most photographed rock climb, Ancient Art. The twisted corkscrew summit, sitting atop a layer of Cutler and Moenkopi sandstone held together by a natural mud mortar, is one of the most adventurous and exposed climbs in the desert SW.
Crack climbing can be intimidating, requiring endurance and technique drastically different from other styles of rock climbing. Splitter Alpine Adventures will teach you the most efficient movement skills to make your learning process enjoyable and productive. The roadside climbing at Wall Street area outside of downtown Moab is a great location with a variety of climbing styles and difficulty levels to cater to your specific abilities. We also offer crack climbing clinics at the famous Indian Creek, about 1 hour outside of Moab. The endless amount of splitter cracks at the Creek are perfect for honing your crack climbing skills. With a custom learning plan, we will cater to your goals and abilities to ensure that you develop the necessary skills to stand on top of a desert tower or apply your movement skills to other world class crack climbing destinations such as Yosemite or Patagonia.
